Lungelo Gwala

Lungelo joined the Lighthouse Academy as an intern in 2022. Originally from Durban, he graduated with an LLB in 2017 from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

From May 2018 to January 2020 Lungelo worked as a legal editor at LexisNexis where he worked primarily on the legal citator research tool. He also assisted with other projects such as the creation of a comprehensive criminal law index, launching a new series of law reports; and various compliance related work.

While at Lexis Nexis Lungelo won the Legal Process Outsourcing Project competition, which required high quality and in-depth legal research for real practice matters and trials. He also authored an article titled ‘Caveat Subscriptor In A Brave New World’ for a LexisNexis think tank forecasting the intersection of law and technology that will shape the future of reputation, which was presented at the Legal Innovation and Tech Fest in 2019.

From his brief time in a corporate environment, Lungelo has developed a keen interest in commercial law and is looking forward learning as much as possible in this area of law as part of the Lighthouse Academy.

During his spare time Lungelo enjoys reading, jogging, and hiking.
