Asithandile Mayila

Asithandile completed her Bachelor of Laws in University of Western Cape. During her undergraduate studies she was an executive member of the Black Lawyers Association (UWC) and Street Law (UWC). She valued the opportunity this gave to execute on innovative ideas to facilitate change in the university and surrounding underserved communities.

She is passionate about to serving her community and sharing knowledge to empower people. She had the opportunity to do so as the Co-founder of Leaders in Demand and a coordinator of the University of Western Cape Proctors Student Legal Representative Team. In recognition of her leadership skills, Asithandile was selected to be part of the University of Western Cape Leadership Academy which offers selected students training on how to lead with values and integrity. Asithandile’s dedication and commitment to learning earned her a place in the Golden Key International Honour Society and UWC’s Faculty of Law Top Achievers Program.

She is a tutor for Education Without Borders, an international organisation that aims to provide educational opportunities in South Africa and Canada for disadvantaged at risk children.

Asithandile sees her internship at Lighthouse as an opportunity to learn from and work with highly qualified and innovative lawyers, and to explore her interest in technology law, commercial transactions and contracts.
