George Miller

George is an experienced commercial and competition lawyer who provides practical, commercially-minded advice to a range of South African and multinational corporates in the technology, banking, financial services and fast-moving consumer goods sectors.

George values gaining a deep understanding of the complex factors that drive a client’s business

George has acted for customers and suppliers in outsourcing, software as a service (SaaS), software development and licensing, marketing, distribution and services agreements. Recently, he has worked closely with a fintech company’s business development team to expand the company’s technology partnerships and reseller network in the rest of Africa, the middle east, Europe and North America.

Before switching his focus to commercial and technology law, George practised as a competition (“antitrust”) lawyer, providing competition law advice in relation to mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, cartel conduct, distribution and licensing arrangements, dawn raids and compliance. George firmly believes in the value of gaining a deep understanding of the complex factors that drives a client’s behaviour – he believes that it is impossible to provide sound legal advice without understanding a client’s business.

Aside from client matters, George is excited about working with the Lighthouse Academy students to assist them to realise their potential to become leading commercial lawyers.
